Today I had all intentions of writing a heart felt post about my little pea-pod Reagan...
BUT on the way home from Crossfit last night I got a frantic phone call from Jeff.
He began to explain that he was searching for her binky and couldn't find it...
No big deal right!
Well...he needed to know where it was because Reagan and fallen and hit her eye!
You can imagine what my reaction was!
As a typical first-time mother would do...I started to FLIP OUT and began interrogating!
Is she OK?
Is her eye damaged?
How big is the bruise?
Is she bleeding?
How did it happen?
Were you EVEN watching her?
If I were him...I would have hung up on myself!
I took of few deep breathes and a Valium...
{just kidding but don't think I wouldn't}
and finished the conversation like a responsible, calm, got-it-all-together mother!

{just kidding but don't think I wouldn't}
and finished the conversation like a responsible, calm, got-it-all-together mother!
Who am I kidding...I AM THAT mother that said my child would NEVER get hurt...
HA...FAT CHANCE!
Oh the days of ignorance and denial.
I have SO much to learn!
We got Reagan out of her crib this morning and the black eye was there to greet us.
She was all smiles while I was loathing and cursing her injury!
At this point the thought of padding all the sharp corners in our house was going through my mind.
I'm about ONE plastic bubble short of putting her in a plastic bubble!
I'm about ONE plastic bubble short of putting her in a plastic bubble!
Jeff was very helpful..."This will be the first of many!"
FOR THE LOVE...that is just what I need to hear.
{enters my ignorance...once again}
"This is NEVER happening again!"
Whose right?...only time will tell.
But until then I will happily live in my ignorance.
P.S. Reagan's going to go play in the dirt today...just so I can prove to myself that I don't need that stinkin' bubble!
XOXO
Pin It Now!
Poor little sister! She and Brycen can be twins. He fell flat on his face last night (had slippery socks on and slipped on the word floor) and he looks pretty beat up. These poor little kiddos! Thank goodness they heal fast. :)
ReplyDeleteThat was supposed to be *wood* floor ha ha.
ReplyDeletePoor baby! But I agree - it will probably be the first of many! I'd like to say it gets easier, but every bump and bruise hurts Mama too! Glad she's ok.....
ReplyDeleteOuchie! My hubby's best friend is an OBGYN and he always says to his patients "Children were designed to survive first time parents" haha. Some falls just can't be avoided, but kids are tough! :)
ReplyDeleteReagan - you're cute even with a black eye!! I wish I could kiss it and make it all better. I won't tell your mommy about all of the bumps and bruises your daddy had (or his sisters...!!!) - that will be OUR secret! Love you - grandma :)
ReplyDeleteSheesh, you're going better than me! Dallin and I are seriously considering a helmet for Claire :) She is ALWAYS falling and bumping into something. I pray she doesn't have brain damage... :)
ReplyDeleteOuch! I remember the first bruise Stella got. I felt like mother of the year and freaked out thinking people would think I beat my child! It's definitely harder on the momma than the baby!
ReplyDeleteTrinity got her first black eye from my nephew. They were playing and he just kicked his foot out. She happened to be too close to him and it hit her. She was younger than Reagan. I didn't get mad at him or my sister. These things happen.
ReplyDeleteBut then again, I am a very non freak out kind of mom.
Sad! I used to think that I would prevent anything from happening to my kids...then I had a boy! But I totally felt the same way you did when Ethan got stitches for the first time! Glad to see you aren't afraid to stick her out in the dirt... ;)
ReplyDeleteIt will probably happen again.. and again. Maybe a different spot - we are in a shin phase right now - black and blue. :)
ReplyDeleteAww bless her! I remember when my niece bit her tongue as a small baby and she was bleeding in her mouth - it was awful! But they barely even notice themselves!
