PAINTING Favorites and Must haves!

These amazing tools were by my side with every brush stroke and paint spill I've had over the last year!!
{EVERY PICTURE...unless otherwise noted...is from homedepot.com}
Disclaimer: Home Depot does not in any way sponsor simplesadiejane.com
Although it would be TOTALLY awesome if they did...I'm just obsessed with their painting materials!
so let's just get on with it and tell you why I THINK you should use all these awesome things!
A RULER: okay this one kinda speaks for itself but really when we did all of the strips and lines on our walls...we simply used a pencil and ruler!
You don't always have to have the most expensive stuff for have an amazing looking wall!
This little paint can opener is one of the MUST-HAVES!!
Those flippin' paint cans can be tricky to open without one of these!

Before doing any of your painting make sure you re-caulk all your window frames!!
It's amazing how much money you can save on your energy bill if you don't have the extra breeze coming through those window cracks!
When we started painting our home we had to fill in some MAJOR holes!
The kind that I used went on purple and dried white!
We even filled in those little push pin holes...you want your wall looking as fresh as it can.
Instead of using any kind of tarp or sheet...we used newspapers!
We just stuffed them under the trim and it worked great!!
BUT make sure you pull it out while the paint is still wet or else it will just rip and give you a headache!
I used lots and lots of tape...and this is the brand I always used.
My mother in law taught me how to 'cut' all the edges instead of using tape and I actually like it a lot better...as long as you take your time it looks amazing!
Speaking of doing edges...
you can't do straight slick edges without a high quality curved brush!
As for the wall goes...
obviously using a roller is a must...
but Jeff bought this amazing roller that has an expandable handle on it that I LOVED!
It's not the same one as pictured...Jeff got ours at the Army Surplus Store!

If you want to do any stenciling you HAVE to have a small roller too!!
and there is NOTHING better to use then disposable roller covers!!
Easy clean up!

BUT if you aren't ready to throw the rolls away...wrap it in Saran Wrap...throw it in the fridge and save it for the next day!
{you can do it for your brushes too}

You can get disposable roller covers for your big rollers too!!

Sometimes you can get spills and drips on your trim or skin...
having a pack of wipes by your side will save you!
They are a must!
Metal paint trays!
A MUST-HAVE!

BUT not without plastic disposable trays!
I'm ALL about easy clean-up!!

 These are SO HANDY!!
For all your edges and corners...you can even climb a ladder with it in your hand!
Once you start your painting journey you will find your favorites and must-haves but hopefully this list will help you start it off right!!

XOXO
