60 POUNDS GONE {PEACE OUT BABY WEIGHT}

On May 22, 2012 my husband and I welcomed our 2nd child into this world!
As a mother, you know what I mean when I say that day is one of the best days of my life.
After carrying a child for 9 months and going through the roller coaster that is pregnancy suddenly looking into that little babes eyes makes you forget all about it.
Every little cramp, waddle and pound means nothing and we all would do it a million times over if it meant that we get to hold that perfect angel in our arms.
 I know I speak for all mothers out there when I say those 'few extra pounds' were worth it!
BUT...for some of us it isn't just a few pounds!
No matter how healthy I ate...
or how much working out I did...
{click here} and {here} to read more
I STILL GAINED 60 POUNDS!
and after working hard, eating right and staying balance I got my body back.
I LOST 60 POUNDS in 8 MONTHS and I'm going to show you just how I did it!
(picture a cheesy infomercial with me standing next to Jillian Michaels)
Although Baylor was worth every pound gained I knew I wanted to lose every one of them!
If you are one of those lucky souls who gets to eat whatever their heart desires and only gains 20 pounds AND loses it within that first 6 weeks without even lifting a finger...
well then GOOD FOR YOU!! {this time I really am shouting capitals}
No, for reals though, I only hate you because I am extremely jelly and you should embrace that wonderful little body you got there! {insert 'atta girl' butt slap}
AS FOR THE REST OF US...who LITERALLY DO NOT lose a single pound without using some serious self-control...
I AM HERE FOR YOU!
{you can shed some tears on my shoulder}
This picture is the first picture I took the day AFTER having Baylor.
{I PROMISE there is NO BABY in there!}
AND these AWESOMELY HOT pictures were taken on MAY 24...the day I was discharged!
The FIRST thing I did even BEFORE I delivered was have a REASONABLE goal in mind for my weight lose.
I knew I wanted to have all my weight gone by the time little B was 9 months old!
I mean if it takes you 9 months to put it on...it should take you 9 months to take it off!
MY NUMBER ONE TIP for losing your baby weight...
BE PATIENT!
You've just had another human being hanging out in your stomach for almost a whole year...there are bound to be some lose ends here and there that are going to take more then a 3 day cleanse to put them back where they belongs!
 The way I lost my baby weight really isn't rocket science...
it isn't some miracle or hidden secret or undiscovered 'next best thing'...
it took lots of sweat, dedication, hard work, disciple and dance parties!
It's SIMPLE enough that busy moms can do it but hard enough that results will show quickly.
I worked out 4-5 times a week at my local CROSSFIT gym
I've explained crossfit before but for people that don't know...
simply put CROSSFIT is...
constantly varied, functional movements, at a high intensity resulting in becoming my best physically and mentally.
Your workouts are planned for you every time you step into that gym...
you work on building LEAN muscle...
combining high intensity cardio workouts with simple weight lifting and mobility work.
A WOD or WORKOUT OF DAY would maybe be like
STRENGTH
Snatch Pulls - 5 x 3 - Heavy  -  rest :60 sec
Double Unders - 5 x 35 - Rest 2:00 min
WOD
12-9-6-3
Power Snatch - 95/65
Burpees

Does that make any sense?...maybe not YET but the great thing about Crossfit is the simple fact that it's fool proof.
Go into a Crossfit gym and just PRETEND like you aren't going to work your big booty off while busting out the same WOD 6 other people are doing!
It works because of 3 simple reasons
1. It's something different everyday {HELLO MUSCLE CONFUSION}
2. It forces you to push yourself with scheduled WODs and some friendly competition
3. It can be modified for whatever stage of fitness you are at in your life

Some weeks I only made it to the gym once or not at all...
but I continued to keep my goal in view...
don't worry I had plenty 'IamsofatIhatemybodyIwillneverbeskinny' crying sessions...but then I looked on Pinterest for some motivational workout quotes and I'm back to business!
 Working your little BEHIND off in the gym will do NOTHING for you if you don't focus just as much on your diet!
Weight lose is simple when you think about it this way...
if you burn more calories then you intake...you lose weight!
but I have to tell you a secret...
I never counted my calories!
My main focus was to start the day with a GOOD BREAKFAST
and continue the day eating small meals throughout the day.
 MY DIET was centered around PALEO
PALEO is...
Paleo diet centers around the idea that our bodies have not adapted sufficiently to eating foods that weren’t available to us 10,000 years ago. It is thought that more than 70% of food consumed today was never available in Paleolithic times.  We put so much processed food into our bodies; most of which is unhealthy.  The advances in agriculture and mass food production have caused us to move away from eating real food; food meant to work with our bodies for optimal health.
 A Paleo diet involves eating meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, little starch, some fruit and no sugar.  It means no grains, legumes, dairy or alcohol.  It means staying away from all processed foods.
{source: google.com}
I eat more of a modified PALEO...
I like to live with the motto...
'EVERYTHING IN MODERATION"
so I kept dairy in my diet.
{I WILL BLOG ABOUT MORE OF THE SPECIFIC FOODS I ATE SOON}
BUT until then...
Here are my top 5 most important eating tips
1. ALWAYS eat breakfast (protein filled) this jump starts your metabolism for the day and can actually help you lose weight faster
2. NEVER eat after a certain time of night (8 was usually my cut off)
3. WATER, WATER, WATER (you can never have enough in my opinion)
you should be drinking around 2.5 liters a day!
Remember those mugs you were sent home with from having your baby...
drink three of those everyday and you will be GOLDEN
4. EAT CLEAN (stay away from processed foods)
5. REWARD YOURSELF (whether it's a cheat day or a little something once a day...remember...everything in moderation!)
Coming from a person with a serious sweet tooth...you don't want to go cold turkey and then revert back after a weekend binge!
{more on the food coming soon}
I sure hope these tips and tricks are helpful EVEN if you didn't just have a baby but still want to lose weight or just be healthy!
{Don't pay attention to my duck lips and no makeup faces in all the pictures...K?}

Now that my goals are accomplished I have set new goals and plan on continuing my fitness journey.

DID you notice the NEW BLOG DESIGN?
I EVEN ADDED A NEW PAGE on my blog specifically for my workouts!
If you look on the top right you will see a TAB titled W.O.D.
I will be posting all my workouts my gym has planned for that day!
It will be a fun place that I can post daily tips and tricks to specific WOD's

I hope I can inspire and help all you little momma's and beautiful women out there!
Our lives are a precious gift.
Let us not take that gift for granted.

  14. Sadie what an inspiration you are! I loved reading every word of this post. You aren't only completely adorable, but you are motivating. THANKS for sharing your journey with us. It really is something a lot of people strive to be. Wish I had the 8 months behind me and was 135 pounds of lean muscle. Where is the crossfit gym in Rigby? I can't do it at this time, but would like to in time. I just started Turbo Fire, so we will see how successful I am with it. I have lost all of my baby weight from Cooper (3rd) but am still hanging on to some from my 5 and 7 year old. Anyway... THANKS for putting yourself out there. You look amazing. Be VERY proud of yourself!!!!

  16. Thank you for posting this. I am 190 lbs ( i think?) and I am working on dropping to 120, I am out in the middle of nowhere, with a treadmill and a set of 10 lbs weights. I have a 9 month goal time to reach that weight loss. I hope it is possible, but either way thank you for showing me it is possible to drop the weight!

  18. Ah! Totally forgot to ask my questions..

    What does your cardio routine look like?

    Any good recipes that your husband liked too? We live on a ranch so my husband is pretty 'meat n potatoes' I usually have to cook 2 meals every night one for him and one for me, Bleck!

    As others already asked as well, were you breastfeeding?

    Thanks for the encouragement!!! :]

  21. Can I say "Way to go Lady!" This is my first time reading your blog, but I feel like I have found my prego twin. I gave birth to my daughter December 4th 2012. She is my second baby, and just like her brother came with a huge weight gain. Despite following a modified paleo lifestyle and running the entire pregnancy I still gained 65 pounds (starting at 135- and getting to the dreaded 199.5 mark-ouch, I am also 5'5). But here I am 3 and 1/2 months post baby, and I am down 45 pounds. I loved your post. Thank you so much for sharing your pictures through out the journey. You have re-motivated me to keep up with my weights and running, as well as following Paleo. I loved this post. 8 months to goal weight - here I come.

  22. Thank you for sharing your journey! So inspiring! I am a first time mom to a two month old little girl, I gained 35 lbs during my pregnancy and I have about 25 more lbs I want to loose to my goal weight right now. I am trying to be patient with myself but it is hard. You look amazing, and it was great to see another Mom who is fit and skinny like you and not 100 lbs. My goal weight is 130-135, and our measurements are actually very similar (from when I was that weight) so it was great to see that YES IT CAN bE DONE!! THANK YOU!!!! :)
