Remember this stencil…for my {MASTER BEDROOM}…
I DID ANOTHER STENCIL…
courtesy of {CUTTING EDGE STENCIL}!!
And I decided to do a review/tutorial with it as well…because you’re gonna need to know how to stencil if you WIN THE AWESOME GIVEAWAY!
THIS was the sad laundry room/mud room…
for those of you who don’t know what a mud room is…
it’s just the ‘country’ name for a room to put shoes…throw coats…and take off all things ‘muddy’!
Look at that wall…it DESPERATELY needed a makeover!!
Our paint zone…such a disaster!
Cut the edges with either tape or a nice brush that does edges really well…
we actually painted all the trim first since we needed to do that anyways…
you don’t HAVE TO start stenciling this way…
Depending on whether or not you are painting the actual wall first…
obviously!
Once the wall is all painted and CLEAN…you are ready to start your stenciling!
NEEDED MATERIALS:
Paint tray
paint
stencil
tape
stencil level {AVAILABLE AT CUTTING EDGE STENCIL.COM}
small roller
I LOVE using this cheap, disposable roller covers!
They make the paint go on a little heavier but if you use to right amount of pressure they work perfect!!!
Cutting Edge Stencils has 100’s of stencils to choose from!!
As you can tell from the 2 stencils I got from them…
they have so much variety!
The GREAT thing about THESE stencils is they are DURABLE and THICK!
so they don’t bleed!!
STEP ONE:
Make sure you start in the upper left hand corner of your wall!!
This specific stencil came with an upper wall piece so I started with that one first!
Tape the edges and use the STENCIL LEVEL to make sure its legit and even…
you might want to wait for your stencil to dry until working your across your wall…
I am impatient and just CAREFULLY overlapped the stencil over the wet paint!
Once you get the top part done start using your BIG stencil…
make sure you tape ALL sides REALLY WELL!!
After painting for a while the stencil will start to get heavy so make sure its secure to the wall.
When you paint make sure to use LIGHT pressure and TRY not to lift the roller off the stencil until your done…
move it back and forth slowly in every direction until it’s either completely covered or until it’s covered to the point you want it…
{sometimes, depending on the stencil, you paint it lightly, so it has a sponge look}
{if that even makes sense}
I wanted this particular stencil completely covered
Start from the top corner and peel away from the wall…
There were a lot of little mistakes like this one…
and this one…
{only because I was going super fast…}
but I just waited for it to dry and then recovered with a coat of the green paint
Do that over and over and over again!!…
REMEMBER: at the corners and edges…just simply bend the stencil and tape it really well!!
If you go to the {CUTTING EDGE BLOG} it gives a GREAT tutorial on how to do edges with stencils!!
AND YOU’RE DONE!!
FAST…EASY…and BEAUTIFUL!!
You want some STENCIL GOODNESS don’t you!!
It’s your lucky day!!
